Britain reclaims world record for texting

There's a new British World Record holder for sending text messages from mobile phones. Okay, so it's currently unofficial... and it's a promotional opportunity for Samsung and Swype... and it's just for touchscreen phones... but that's not stopped us celebrating.

Melissa Thompson from Salford used the Swype application on a Samsung Galaxy S to type the Guinness World Record test SMS phrase - "The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human" - in 25.94 seconds. That's ten seconds faster than the previous touchscreen record, which was set using Swype earlier this year.
