The Carphone Warehouse has published its results for the six months up to 30th September 2009. These figures include its retail business – the 50%-owned Best Buy Europe partnership – and its TalkTalk fixed-line business.
The company says it performed ahead of market expectations, with Best Buy Europe's quarterly connections up 2% - although this is the smallest quarterly growth in the last 12 months. However, pre-tax profits are up 88% for the six months to September, sales were up 13% and smartphone sales were up 270% year-on-year. The demerger of the two business segments is due to be completed by the end of March next year, with four new Best Buy 'Big Box' stores scheduled to open in the Spring. [News article]
