Mobile phone manufacturer ZTE is likely to become one of the world’s five largest handset makers this year, according to a report in DigiTimes.com. Its handset shipments increased 40% year-on-year to 45 million units in 2008. The current fifth-largest manufacturer (according to research from Gartner) is Sony Ericsson, which sold 93 million devices last year.
