Research company Canalys says most consumers aren’t interested in switching to a cheaper mobile phone service to save money. They contacted 2,400 consumers in France, Germany and the UK, asking them about a range of topics. Only 18% thought they wouldn’t be greatly affected by the current economic downturn. Canalys then asked respondents what first step they’d take to try and save money. 21% said the first way they’d try to save money would be going out less often to restaurants, bars and cinemas. 17% said they wouldn’t take a holiday, with 8% saying they’d take a less-expensive holiday. 14% would delay buying electronics products and 9% would cut back on buying DVDs, CDs or TV services.
1% of people said they would stop using their mobile phone to save money, with a further 4% saying they’d switch to a cheaper mobile service. [Press release]
