Dispute causes Nimbuzz to drop Skype support

Mobile messaging service Nimbuzz will no longer support Skype messaging and VoIP calls from the end of this month.

In a statement, Nimbuzz said "Skype asked us to remove support for their service", adding "Skype’s decision to ask us to stop supporting their service seems to be part of a strategy to disconnect all open third party support."

Nimbuzz launched its free mobile communications service in 2008, with the NimbuzzOut international call service introduced in November 2009. It currently claims 30 million users and says 3.65 billion mobile voice minutes were made on its service in the last year.

Earlier this year fring and Skype were involved in a similar disagreement.
