There's been plenty of talk about the health effects of mobile phones on people, although much of the research has seemed inconclusive. Now a group of researchers in Japan has investigated whether mobiles have any effect on the sexual behaviour of rabbits.
The use of rabbits, perhaps obviously, avoided the complications of such a study using people.
Six male rabbits had switched-on phones placed near their genitals, six had switched-off phones and another six had no phones at all. Female rabbits were then introduced. After twelve weeks of research, the researchers noted that the rabbits with switched-on phones "got sexually exhausted earlier". However, the research group is too small to offer any definitive conclusions.
