Retrieva, the UK-based company that produces dog tracking collars with built-in GPS tracking, has announced a deal with specialist virtual mobile network Podsystem. It’ll allow Retrieva to use Podsystem’s MultiNet Europe SIM cards for a premium roaming service that’ll simplify costs and will allow European owners to track their dogs across national borders.
Podsystem’s SIM will also connect to any network in the UK, providing more coverage than Retrieva’s current UK mobile provider.
Andy Stuart, one of the founders of Retrieva, said “Having already established a broad customer base in the UK, we faced a challenge when demand for our dog collars began to increase in Europe. Although we had been working with a UK telecoms provider, finding a way to standardize prices throughout the whole of Europe and avoiding roaming costs became paramount. Discovering Podsystem’s MultiNet Europe SIM has put us streets ahead, enabling us to offer a comprehensive, premium service to European customers. Previously, we as a company had to assume the risk of roaming costs if a customer frequently used the device abroad, whereas now this risk has been almost entirely eliminated.”
The Retrieva dog collar can provide live tracking to the owner’s mobile phone or via a web browser.
