EE has announced a series of exceptionally large mobile data bundles for businesses including broadcasters and other media organisations. It’s created a series of 4G data tariffs that can be shared and have no fixed-term contract or expiry date, with bundle sizes from 50 terabytes to 1 petabyte (1 million GB).
Figures from EE show that an average business of 2,500 3G users would be expected to consume up to 200TB of data over a three-year period.
The 1PB bundle is priced at £8 per GB, which means the overall cost is £8 million. Payment can be made in advance or in instalments. It’s designed as an alternative to satellite uplink services, which need to be booked in advance and can cost from £20/GB.
Max Taylor, Director of Corporate Business at EE, said “British businesses are transforming the way they work with new 4G mobile technology, cloud computing and collaboration tools. In light of these trends and with LTE-Advanced at up to 300Mbps on the horizon, we forecast corporate data consumption will grow by 860% over the next three years. Armed with more spectrum holding, and subsequently more network capacity than any other UK operator, we are introducing our Super Bundles for businesses that want to transform mobile working for their employees and need a simple, scalable solution.”
It’s now just over a year since EE (Everything Everywhere Ltd) launched its 4G network in the UK.
