Ericsson has revealed a 'plug and play' GSM cell site in a backpack. The Ericsson Rapid Response GSM backpack is designed for short-term disaster recovery and can be deployed in 15 minutes.
Weighing only 8kg, the backpack's technology can be added to an existing operator network or utilised by a closed user group of emergency workers. The company says no special training is required by the user.
