European mobile internet use will triple within 5 years

A report from Forrester Research says over a third of consumers in Western Europe will access the internet using their mobile phones by 2014. That’ll be around 39% of the population; up from just 13% in 2008 and a projected 17% by the end of 2009.

In addition, a third of Western European consumers will own internet-enabled mobile phones by 2014 - compared with 18% this year. However, the total number of mobile phone users will only increase around 3% from 334 million at the end of this year to 344 million at the end of 2014. [Sources: Yahoo.com; NMA.co.uk]
