The Linux-based First ELSE mobile device – a mobile phone that was being built by ELSE Mobile in partnership with Access Co. and Sharp Corporation – is no more. The phone was unveiled in November 2009 and was exhibited at Mobile World Congress earlier this year.
ELSE says despite encouraging interest from potential partners, they've not been able to confirm an acceptable deal that would lead to production. As a result, the board has decided to cease any further investment towards manufacturing the First ELSE mobile device and is concentrating on licensing the ELSE Intuition platform and technology.
Emblaze, ELSE's parent company, is currently taking legal action for patent infringement against Apple and Microsoft. In addition, the Company's UK subsidiary, Emblaze Mobility Solutions Limited, is involved in a dispute with HM Revenue & Customs.
