Free mobile TV in the USA this summer

It’s been reported that television stations in Washington DC will begin mobile TV broadcasts using the ATSC standard from this summer. There’ll be no charge for receiving the channels, which will contain the same programmes as terrestrial TV. However, there’s currently no commercially-available device that can receive the ATSC standard, although some prototypes were demonstrated earlier this year. Free mobile TV services using the same standard are expected to launch in several other US cities by the end of the year. [Sources: Juniper Research blog; Mobile-Weblog.com]
