Global mobile broadband usage up 93% to 225 million

Informa Telecoms & Media has calculated that the number of mobile broadband subscribers increased by 93% year-on-year, exceeding 225 million users worldwide at the end of March 2009. Growth in Latin America was up 385% to 10 million subscribers, while the Asia Pacific region had the largest number of users: 90 million.

The company reckons that mobile operators saw total data revenues of $46.5 billion during the first quarter of this year, up 8.5% year-on-year. [Source: Telecoms.com]
