Google acquisition of Motorola Mobility clears its Chinese wall

MotorolaGoogle and Motorola Mobility have confirmed that Chinese authorities have approved Google’s purchase of Motorola Mobility Holdings. The planned deal was announced in August 2011 and was given the regulatory go-ahead by European and US regulators earlier this year.

The acquisition deal is now expected to be finalised in the next few days.

It’s reported that the Android system will need to remain free and open for at least five years as part of the agreement.
