Google, Apple and CES all promise an exciting start to 2010

The 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) starts on 7th January in Las Vegas. It's produced by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), a trade association with over 2,000 members in the consumer technology industry. There'll be 2,700 exhibitors at this year's show – and, almost inevitably, a fair amount of telecoms companies.

Yet the first of next year's big mobile stories may not come from CES 2010. Google has just announced an 'Android press gathering' for 5th January, which could reveal more about the HTC-manufactured Nexus One handset that Google staff are currently using – or about Google's other plans for the Android platform.

And once CES is over, Apple has an announcement scheduled for the end of January. The much-rumoured Apple iSlate tablet, perhaps?
