Google brings Voice Actions speech control to the UK

Last December, Google introduced a new Android feature called Voice Actions. It let users control their smartphone or tablet with their voice - but it was only available in the USA.

Voice Actions is now available in the UK, along with France, Italy, Germany and Spain. Customers can use the standard Google search widget to make phone calls, send text messages, navigate to a location and browse the web… all just by speaking.

Previously, web search was the only speech-controlled option offered by Google.

Voice Actions is available on phones and tablets running Android 2.2 and above.
