Google launches UK initiative to make businesses more mobile-friendly

Google has launched a UK-based initiative called ‘GetMo’ that’s intended to help UK businesses make their websites more mobile friendly. It follows the creation of a similar ‘GoMo’ campaign in the USA last year.

As well as offering advice, the GetMo website also provides information about a number of vendors that can help develop mobile web sites.

Once of the companies listed is MoBank, which offers complete mCommerce service from site build through to merchandising and secure mobile payments.

Dominic Keen, Chief Executive of The MoBank Group, said “We are delighted to have been selected by Google for the progressive GetMo campaign. The aims of the GetMo initiative are consistent with MoBank’s goals to make high quality mobile commerce opportunities available to retailers of all sizes. Statistics show that over 15% of all online traffic is now coming from mobile, therefore retailers that use websites which don’t adequately support mobile transactions are losing the equivalent to one day of business per week.”
