The HTC-manufactured Google Nexus One contains materials worth $174.15 (£108.70), according to a 'teardown' analysis by iSuppli. The figure includes hardware and component costs but excludes manufacturing, software, box contents, accessories and royalties. That compares to a reported $172.46 + $6.50 manufacturing for each Apple iPhone 3GS.
The Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon processor is the single most-expensive component, estimated at $30.50. Next is the 3.7-inch AMOLED display, supplied by Samsung and estimated to cost $23.70. iSuppli also noted that the Nexus One is unusual in having a dedicated voice processor chip and 4Gbit (512MByte) of Samsung DDR DRAM.
