Harriet Harman's mobile phone driving charge withdrawn

Harriet Harman MP, the Labour party's deputy leader, has pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention. She's been fined £350 and and also needs to pay £70 costs plus a £15 victim surcharge. In addition, she has received three points on her driving licence. A charge of driving while using a mobile phone was withdrawn.

The charges related to an incident in July last year when Ms Harman hit a parked car whilst driving. [Sources: BBC News; TimesOnline.co.uk]
