Hutchison Whampoa profits down – but 3G customers are up

Hong Kong’s Hutchison Whampoa says profits were down 33% in the first half of 2009. However, its worldwide 3G mobile phone businesses (including 3 UK) increased their customer base by 25% during that period. They now have over 25.3 million customers, including over 3.8 million mobile broadband access customers – which is a 170% increase year-on-year. [PDF results]
