Instagram, the free iPhone photo-editing application launched last October, has announced that more than 150 million photos have now been shared via the service. It means the company’s 7 million users are sharing photos at a rate of 15 photos per second.
The company, which is still only run by a handful of people, said it had reached 100 million photos and over 6 million users last month. At this rate, it could be approaching 10 million users by the time of its first anniversary.
In a recent interview with Fast Company, CEO Kevin Systrom said the company aimed to change the way people communicate and share. "Although we love what we've created so far, I think it's the tip of the iceberg."
