Mobile payment provider iZettle has released its first software development kit for developers. It follows the release of iZettle’s API in 2012.
The free iOS SDK makes it easier for developers to add payment services to their mobile applications in any of the nine countries where iZettle operates. An Android version is due later this year.
Apps developed with the iZettle SDK can connect to iZettle’s card reader with a single click, taking payments and returning information to the app for generating receipts, inventory control, accounting or customer relationship management. Standard iZettle fees apply to these transactions.
Jacob de Geer, iZettle’s co-founder and CEO, said “In our ongoing quest to democratise card payments we’re now opening our platform to developers who already have an app, or are working on the next blockbuster iOS app, and need a payment solution. Whether you have developed an app with a totally new take on point-of-sale systems for cafés, or a Craigslist-like app matching buyers and sellers in the physical world, iZettle’s SDK can easily be implemented to ensure the payment process runs like clockwork for both customers and businesses.”
The iZettle service is EMV (Europay, MasterCard and Visa) approved and complies with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
