LG Electronics introduces its own BYOD solution

LG Electronics has announced a business-focussed security service called LG GATE. It’s designed to separate a user’s own personal data from company data on their smartphone.

The platform is being launched in the USA on the new Android-based LG G2, enabling companies with a ‘bring your own device‘ (BYOD) policy to give their staff secure access to enterprise data via a personal smartphone.

Dr Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, said “With the increasing popularity of BYOD, employees alike are demanding improved work solutions for mobile. LG GATE satisfies the need for both company security and individual privacy. As a respected mobile communications industry leader, LG will continue to deliver exceptional user experiences to all of its valued customers.”

Earlier this year LG created a ‘bring your own device’ version of its Optimus Vu smartphone. Meanwhile, rival Samsung launched its KNOX product at Mobile World Congress in February.
