LG is searching for five Chocolate phones… but why?

LG Mobile is advertising online and in print in a bid to reclaim five original ‘Chocolate’ phones. Serial numbers 802KPAE821224, 803KPBF578597, 803KPXV578330, 803KPVH578503 and 803KPJP923836 are all being sought by the end of this month, with a $10,000 reward plus a replacement phone for each.

The biggest question is “why?” Is this a promotional campaign for the new Chocolate phone – or are there valuable components inside?  And wouldn’t LG usually have a record of which phones had been sent to which distributor?  All will (probably) be revealed on 8th October.
