LG Optimus 3D smartphone is launched officially

The LG Optimus 3D, which was unveiled at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier this year, has been officially launched today. It’ll arrive in Europe first, with availability in more than 60 markets around the world to follow over the next several weeks. The Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy will have exclusive rights for the UK launch.

LG describes the Optimus 3D as having ‘Tri-Dual’ configuration: dual-core, dual-channel and dual-memory. It also lets users enjoy 3D video by recording and viewing content without the need for special glasses.

Dr Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company, said “Tri-Dual architecture opens up a whole new world in smartphone performance. As the latest offering in our Optimus line-up, we expect there will be significant interest from those who seek the very latest in smartphone technology and are excited about 3D as the next big frontier in mobile devices.”

The phone has a 4.3-inch WVGA display that offers up to 1080p HD video in 2D and up to 720p in 3D. As well as recording their own content, users can upload and stream 3D content on YouTube’s dedicated 3D channel.
