With Mobile World Congress just a week away, LG has announced a new 4G LTE device that’ll be making its debut there. It’s called the Optimus Vu: (yes, the colon is part of the name) and has a 5-inch 1024x768 screen with a 4:3 ratio, giving it a similar format to an ebook reader.
Inside is a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 32GB of memory and a 2,080 mAh battery. It’ll launch with the older ‘Gingerbread’ v2.3 of Android, although an upgrade to v4.0 is planned. Other features include an 8 megapixel camera and a stylus that can be used as an alternative to a finger on the touch-sensitive screen.
Dr Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company, said “The Optimus Vu: was designed to maximize what customers could do with a smartphone. By offering an optimal 4:3 ratio viewing experience, 5-inch display combined with superfast LTE technology, Optimus Vu: is just one example of what we can achieve when we combine our best technology with customer needs.”
The Optimus Vu: will hit the shops in South Korea next month.
