Linux-based operating systems to dominate non-smartphone mobile devices

A report from ABI Research expects that Linux-based operating systems – including Google’s Android and forthcoming Chrome OS - will comprise 62% of operating systems shipped in all non-smartphone mobile devices by 2015. Other Linux-based systems include MeeGo and the Palm webOS.

Victoria Fodale, senior analyst at ABI, said "The number of Linux-oriented initiatives recently seen in the mobile industry indicates that Linux will be a key technology in the next generation of netbooks, media tablets, and other mobile devices".
