Microsoft Windows Phone 8 expected to launch on 29th October

Microsoft has put an official date for the Windows Phone 8 mobile OS in the diary. It’ll be talking about - and presumably demonstrating - Windows Phone 8 to the press in San Francisco on 29th October, just a few days after the launch of its tablet and desktop Windows 8 operating system.

The new OS was previewed in June and has already been revealed on a number of new devices from HTC, Nokia and Samsung.

Handsets pre-installed with Windows Phone 8 are currently expected to go on sale from November.
