Microsoft has announced record quarterly revenue of $16.04 billion for the period ended 30th June 2010, a 22% increase from the same period last year. Operating income was up 49% year-on-year and net income was up 48%.
Kevin Turner, Microsoft's Chief Operating Officer, said "We saw strong sales execution across all of our businesses, particularly in the enterprise with Windows 7 and Office 2010. Our transition to cloud services is well underway with offerings like Windows Azure and our Business Productivity Online Services, and we look forward to continuing our product momentum this fall with the upcoming launches of Windows Phone 7 and Xbox Kinect."
Apple reported $15.7 billion in revenue on Tuesday; a figure that some analysts believed would put it ahead of Microsoft.
