Millions of femtocells generating millions in revenue by 2014

Femtocells – those much-discussed but rarely-seen ‘micro base stations’ that make the slender-billed curlew look positively widespread – will be generating $9 billion (£5.5 billion) in worldwide revenue within the next five years, according to Juniper Research.

Millions of consumers at home will be prepared to adopt and pay for 3G femtocells in their homes in return for improved mobile phone coverage, the company says. [Press release]
