Mobile app revenue to grow by 60% annually until 2014

The International Data Corporation has forecast that the amount of revenue from mobile applications is expected to increase at a 60% Compound Annual Growth Rate until 2014, when it’ll exceed $35 billion (over £22 billion). This growth in worldwide revenue is expected to follow the growth in downloaded apps, from 10.9 billion this year to 76.9 billion in 2014.

Scott Ellison, vice president of Mobile and Wireless research at IDC , said “Mobile app developers will 'appify' just about every interaction you can think of in your physical and digital worlds. The extension of mobile apps to every aspect of our personal and business lives will be one of the hallmarks of the new decade with enormous opportunities for virtually every business sector.”
