Mobile games revenue up 20% in 2008

Revenue from mobile games reached $5.4 billion (£3.8 billion) in 2008 - a rise of over 20% - says Juniper Research. Although the mobile gaming markets in Western Europe and North America slowed and sales in Japan decreased, growth across the Indian sub-continent, Africa, the Middle East and developing nations across the Asia Pacific regions helped global revenues increase. The company also says that a decline in Java downloads has been offset by the volume of iPhone downloads through the Apple App Store. [Press release]
