Mobile web sites are (still) disappointing

A new survey conducted in the USA for Gomez Inc suggests that a flawless mobile web experience is still something of a rarity. Two-thirds of respondents had encountered problems within the last 12 months when accessing web sites on their mobile phones. Slow loading times were the biggest complaint; many people also found that web site content was either too large or small for the size of their mobile phone's screen.

And there’s little tolerance for problems; 85% said they’d only retry a mobile internet site a couple of times if it didn’t work initially, with 40% likely to head for a competitor's mobile site instead. [Full results (pdf)]
