The majority of navigation-equipped cars that are being launched at this week’s Paris Motor Show have their in-dash navigation powered by Nokia’s HERE mapping business, the company says.
Its maps can be found in more than 50 of the estimated 62 new car models with in-dash navigation at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.
Features available to motor manufacturers include over-the-air map updates, local search capabilities, real-time traffic information and offline capabilities.
Bruno Bourguet, Senior Vice President of Sales and Business Development at HERE, said “We are proud of the work we are doing together with automakers to boost in-car innovation. As cars get increasingly connected, carmakers not only leverage the world’s most precise map data that we collect, but also our location cloud, providing always fresh and seamless navigation experiences inside and outside of the car.”
HERE maps can currently be found in more than 50 million cars around the world, including models from BMW, Daimler, FIAT-Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan, Peugeot, Renault, Volkswagen and Volvo.
