The May 2011 survey of US mobile consumers from Nielsen has revealed that 55% of people who bought a new handset in the past three months said they’d chosen a smartphone instead of a feature phone. That’s up from 34% a year ago.
Overall, 38% of mobile consumers in the USA now own smartphones.
Android is the most popular smartphone operating system, chosen by 38% of smartphone consumers. However, in recent months the Apple iPhone has shown the most growth in the smartphone segment.
