Motorola phones to include features for blind users

Motorola and the USA’s National Federation of the Blind are now working together to promote technology that makes it easier for blind people to use mobile phones.

From next year, some Motorola mobiles will speak key information, such as the time and date, battery level, signal strength, user’s phone number, caller ID and voicemail alerts.  There’ll also be spoken settings for ring tone status and accessing contacts. No details were given about specific models or availability outside the US. [Press release]
