NEC to merge mobile business with Casio and Hitachi

A few weeks ago we reported rumours that NEC, Hitachi and Casio were talking about merging their mobile phone operations. That’s now been confirmed.

Casio and Hitachi already run a joint business - Casio Hitachi Mobile Communications – and this’ll be merged with NEC’s mobile terminal business next April. The new company will be called NEC CASIO Mobile Communications Ltd. [Press release]
