New Directory Enquiry service for UK mobile numbers

118 800Two years after it was initially announced, the UK's first directory enquiry service for mobile phones is ready to launch. 118800.co.uk will charge £1 to find mobile telephone numbers from its database of “millions of people”. It launches on 18th June and is based on data bought from other businesses. 118800 is run by a company called Connectivity and is based in Kingston upon Hull.

Unlike other directory enquiry services, 118 800 doesn't reveal telephone numbers from its database. Users of the 118800.co.uk online service can send their details to the person they want to contact - but the contact's details remain private. Alternatively, anyone calling the 118 800 operator is connected directly to their chosen recipient. [Sources: Press release; 2007 Times report; 3i.com]
