New five year contract for Deutsche Telekom CEO

It’s not just Formula 1 racing drivers and Premiership footballers who sign long contracts. René Obermann, the CEO of Deutsche Telekom, has just had his contract extended by the company’s Supervisory Board for five years. It will now run until the end of October 2016.

Professor Ulrich Lehner, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Telekom, said “René Obermann has done a first-class job over the last few years. He is the right man for the future of the company, because he combines an understanding of the market with determination and the will to strike a balance between different interests. As such, he will lead the Group to even greater success.”

Deutsche Telekom is responsible for over 131 million mobile customers worldwide, along with around 37 million fixed lines and nearly 16 million broadband connections.
