Sporting goods specialist adidas is planning to launch its own smart watch for runners next month. Called the miCoach SMART RUN, it’ll help athletes track their runs, monitor their heart rate, listen to their favourite music and get real-time coaching tips.
The SMART RUN is designed as a stand-alone device. It has a Bluetooth connection for wireless headphones and can also synchronise with the online adidas training service using WiFi. Controlling is via a 1.45-inch touchscreen colour display protected with Gorilla Glass.
Simon Drabble, Director of miCoach, said “By combining the latest innovations, such as the Mio Wrist Based Continuous Heart Rate Technology, design and ease of use navigation, we consciously broke the template that defines other running watches. But it’s not just that which sets us apart from the competition. As part of the miCoach training system, it truly unlocks human potential by making smart training easy and accessible. Whether you’re starting a new running program, training for a 10k or competing in another marathon, miCoach SMART RUN will make your training more efficient so you get the results you want. Many runners fail to get the most out of their current running watches. Building training plans, transferring workouts and personalizing display information is cumbersome with these devices, with SMART RUN we change this. It is fully integrated with our web platform so training plans, completed workouts and settings are synced seamlessly over WLAN. No cables. No dongles. No hassle!”
miCoach SMART RUN will be released next month with an anticipated retail price of €399.00 (£337).
