Next week’s Apple press event could include iPhone ringtones

As we’ve previously reported, ringtone sales are falling. In fact, this drop has caused the entire mobile music market to fall. It’s a combination of several factors: many music-playing mobiles let you use any track as a ringtone… and the novelty of monophonic, polyphonic, MP3 and celebrity ringtones has started to wear off for some people.

But apparently that hasn’t stopped Apple. Although next week’s Apple press conference isn’t expected to include much about the iPhone, CNET says there’s likely to be an announcement about Apple selling its own ready-made ringtones. And that’s despite it already being possible to create free iPhone ringtones.
