Nokia and Apple complaints will be investigated by ITC

The US International Trade Commission has voted to investigate mobile phones, portable music players and computers following Nokia's complaint in December against Apple. The complaint alleges "violations of section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 in the importation into the United States and sale of certain electronic devices, including mobile phones, portable music players, and computers that infringe patents asserted by Nokia".

This doesn't mean that the USITC has made any decision on the merits of the case. Next, the case will be assigned to one of the USITC's six administrative law judges. They'll hold a hearing and will decide whether there is a violation of the Tariff Act; this decision is then subject to review by the Commission.
