The Nokia HERE mapping business has announced a ‘Connected Driving’ package to help vehicle manufacturers and in-car technology suppliers connect cars and drivers to key cloud-based services. This new combination of services will be demonstrated at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt next week.
HERE Connected Driving includes:
- HERE Auto, an embedded in-car navigation experience that doesn’t need a mobile data connection
- HERE Auto Cloud, which can provide access to real-time traffic updates, restaurant recommendations, parking spots and petrol station prices.
- HERE Auto Companion to synchronise places and routes across multiple mobile devices
- an enhanced HERE Traffic with improved travel time estimates.
Thilo Koslowski, vice president of Automotive at research company Gartner, said “By 2016, the majority of consumers in mature markets will consider in-vehicle web-based data access a key criterion in their automotive purchase. Successful connected vehicle solutions will add value to the connected driver's digital lifestyle and enable integrated cross-device experiences relevant for people everyday.”
