Nokia preparing a tablet to fight the iPad?

Nokia is preparing its own tablet computer and could be competing with the Apple iPad before the end of the year, according to a report on TheStreet.com. The financial website quotes Ashok Kumar, an analyst with Rodman & Renshaw, who says Nokia is already working with suppliers and design manufacturers.

Creating a non-phone computing device wouldn't be an unexpected move for Nokia; the company has previously offered the N770, N800 and N810 tablets – and recently said it expected the new mobile MeeGo operating system to be used on tablet devices.
