Nokia’s N-Gage to fade away next year

Nokia says its Ovi store is going to replace the dedicated N-Gage store for mobile games. The N-Gage store will close at the end of September 2010 while N-Gage.com will remain in operation throughout next year. The N-Gage Arena forums will close at the end of 2010 and other community features within N-Gage games will also stop working then.

The original Nokia N-Gage was a combined mobile phone and gaming device; N-Gage then evolved into a gaming platform that worked on a number of Nokia smartphones.

Nokia says it plans to bring community elements to the Ovi Store gaming experience and is encouraging game developers to use community features in their applications. [N-Gage blog]
