O2 follows Vodafone with Twitter text deal

From August, O2 UK is letting its customers receive replies and direct messages from Twitter completely free. A fair usage limit of 600 free messages per month will apply. Sending SMS updates to the popular social networking site will be charged as a standard text message. Vodafone started offering a UK Twitter service earlier this year. [O2 press release]
