Ofcom proposes 'UK roaming' for 999 calls from mobiles

Ofcom has said it wants mobile networks to introduce a 'roaming' service in the UK that'll enable emergency calls to 999 or 112 to be carried over another network when the customer's own network isn't available. If technical trials go well, the service should be operating by the end of this year. [Press release]
