Opera Mini to be preinstalled on Brew and Android phones from INQ

Opera Software and Hutchison Whampoa-backed INQ have agreed to preinstall the Opera Mini mobile browser on a range of Android-powered INQ smartphones and BREW-based feature phones. They’ll be rolled out in the UK this month.

More than 90 million people worldwide currently use the Opera Mini browser, which compresses data to shrink web pages by up to 90%.

Frank Meehan, INQ’s CEO, said “INQ has been born out of the Internet, and having a great browser for mobile has been something we wanted to get right. We’ve worked with some great partners in the development of the INQ Cloud Touch, and Opera has been one which shares similar values around making things fast and simple.”
