Orange launches all-in-one Libon app with free voice calls, messaging and voicemail

Orange Vallée, the part of France Telecom-Orange responsible for innovation and development, has released a free cross-network mobile app that enables users to make free voice calls, send messages and receive voicemail messages. It’s called Libon and is available as an iOS app in 90 countries including the UK; an Android version is planned for early next year.

VoIP calls are available free between Libon users, as are text messages and a visual voicemail service. It’s also possible to create different voicemail messages for different contact groups. A Premium option adds a number of benefits including free calling to non-Libon users for an hour per month and text transcription of voicemail messages.

According to Orange the Libon service will become compatible with the RCS ‘rich communication services’ standard next year in countries where RCS is available.
