Over a quarter of US mobile web users have clicked an online ad

A survey of mobile phone users in the USA has found that 27% of mobile phone users accessing the mobile internet had clicked on a banner ad or text link. That research – conducted by ABI Research in February 2010 – is a marked increase on the 21% of users from a similar survey just over a year earlier.

In addition, the company says 28% of mobile phone users access internet sites at least once a day from their phones (up from just 16% in the previous December 2008 survey) and 45% of respondents would be prepared to accept promotions on their mobile device under the right circumstances (up from 36%). However, fears about security are also growing: 76% said they were concerned about the risks involved with mobile transactions, up from 71% in the previous survey.
